Bernie Walsh, Director and Principal Engineer

B.E. degree with honours (mechanical) UQ 1998. “SunShark” mechanical co-ordinator 1998/9. The carbon-fibre cased wheelmotor build as his final year thesis project was the co-winner of the 1999 GM Award for Technical Innovation in the 1999 World Solar Challenge. 1999-2004 worked as a Project Engineer at the CSIRO on a diverse range of projects from Airborne Gravity Gradiometry, using cutting edge ultra high precision measurement technology, and Nuclear Spectrometric logging tools. 2004 to 2009 Partner in GWG Creative Engineering working with electric drives and prototype design and development. Worked part time at Mesaplexx 2006-2009, a startup company specialising in the use of superconductors in the telecommunications industry. Currently employed at Ultramotive.

Ben Guymer, Director and Principal Engineer

B.E. degree with honours (Mechanical Engineering) UQ 1996 ▪ Co-designer/constructor of “SunShark” solar car ▪ 1997 worked for 2 years with a composite manufacturing firm and became Design Engineer for the Brisbane Hybrid-Electric Bus Project ▪ Significant experience in machining and fitting ▪ Involved in numerous “design and build” engineering projects including re-fitting a Porsche 911 with a 120kW AC Propulsion motor and custom- gearbox, ground-up development of a production electric assisted bicycle in Switzerland, and the design and prototyping of a hub motor for a power assisted pushbike, using a multistage epicyclic gearbox ▪ SERG member involved from its inception in the design and construction of the UltraCommuter prototype hybrid-electric vehicle working on the suspension, chassis, drive, and bodywork ▪ 2005 to 2009 Partner in GWG Creative Engineering specialising in design and prototyping of electric drives and alternative transport ▪ Currently employed by Ultramotive.

Matthew Greaves, Director and Principal Engineer

B.E. degree (Mechanical Engineering) UQ 1996 ▪ Undergraduate technical coordinator for UQ’s “SunShark” solar racing team ▪ 1997, employed by Transport Energy Systems to work on the development of two hybrid electric buses ▪ 1998, joined Velocity Engineering AG, in Basel, Switzerland, to develop production version of electric assisted bicycle ▪ 1999, engineering position in UQ’s technology commercialisation company, UniQuest Pty Ltd, advising on veracity and merits of technologies being considered for commercialisation ▪ Co-founder of UQ’s Sustainable Energy Research Group (SERG) and involved with the design and construction of UltraCommuter prototype from its inception ▪ 2005 to 2009, Partner in consulting engineering firm, GWG Creative Engineering ▪ Currently seconded to Hydrexia Pty Ltd a hydrogen storage systems company commercialising technology based on novel magnesium alloys ▪ Completing a PhD on ironless wheel motors for electric vehicles, which is the basis of Ultramotive’s patentable technologies.

Mark Northage, Director and Legal Counsel

Combined degrees in Economics and Law (Honours), Australian National University 1984/85 ▪ Admitted to practice in Australian Capital Territory in 1986 as barrister and solicitor ▪ 1992 called to the Bar of England and Wales (Gray’s Inn) ▪ Senior Crown Prosecutor in London until 1998 ▪ 1999 returned to Australia and contacted David Lamb at CSIRO concerning the  “aXcess” prototype electric drive car▪ 2000 solicitor in corporate & commercial law and technology commercialisation at boutique law firm, Brisbane ▪ 2003 met inventors and formed HybridAuto P/L to consolidate and sequester UltraCommuter IP ▪ 2004 headed corporate & commercial section of a local law firm in Melbourne ▪ 2007 to present, In-house Counsel for Australasian manufacturing and technology company ▪ Lifetime car enthusiast and close observer of the motor industry
